ASICS Gets Loud and Color Heavy With Rainbow-Flooded DAY-LYTE PACK
The brand presents the GEL-LYTE III, GEL-LYTE, LYTE-CLASSIC and TARTHER BLAST models in a return to its loud color era.
ASICS has a well-known history as being the sneaker brand that isn’t afraid to be very loud with its color choices and styles. Harkening back to its color-flooding era, the all-new DAY-LYTE PACK features a blast of shades ranging across the rainbow, applied to four of ASICS shoes: GEL-LYTE™ III, GEL-LYTE™, LYTE-CLASSIC™ and the TARTHER BLAST™. Setting out to create completely original colorways out on its primary hues, ASICS is offering four new iterations of its most iconic silhouettes by incorporating ubiquitous colors onto a mix of suede, mesh and leather using the label’s classic designs.
The first shoe, GEL-LYTE III, emerges once again with its original shape and construction that it featured in the early 90s. Designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui in 1990, the GEL-LYTE III OG silhouette incorporates a split-tongue application that initially debuted on the GEL-LD RACER™ shoe. This time around, the GEL-LYTE III is reimagined with an assortment of vibrant color palettes, including purple, green, blue, yellow and orange, while additionally incorporating its signature GEL™ technology cushioning unit in the heel to improve shock absorption and help deliver lasting comfort. Then comes ASICS GEL-LYTE, which has set the standard when it comes to the perfect mix of style and comfort. The GEL-LYTE was one of the first ASICS’ shoes to feature the famous GEL™ technology cushioning, showcasing its performance-geared silhouette, which helps protect feet from high-impact strikes. Coming along in a mix of red, white, yellow, teal, light pink and blue, this shoe goes all the way around the color palette to deliver a shock to the system simply by laying eyes on them. The shoes’ exclusively shaped heel protector provides lateral movement support, while the windows in the toe box give you a step in the right direction.
The third edition of the DAY-LYTE PACK features the LYTE-CLASSIC shoe, which builds off the aesthetic of the GEL-LYTE III sneaker and pays homage to the ASICS archive. The LYTE-CLASSIC appears in bold beige, blue, yellow, green and orange hues over an EVA™ midsole construction with recognizable fine details from the ASICS heritage. Finally, the last new version of ASICS silhouettes, is the TARTHER BLAST™, which merges the lineage’s visual identity of the TARTHER™ sneaker on the upper with modern FLYTEFOAM® Blast tooling from our performance running range. Maintaining its original upper, the TARTHER takes on a traditional racing design commonly worn by marathon runners in the 80s and incorporates ASICS’ responsive tooling, which uses technology to create a hybrid utility that combines performance look and functionality. This TARTHER BLAST™ features a white base ghat is complemented by hints of deep blue, light orange and gray.
