Sonder and Jorja Smith Link Up For New Single "Nobody But You"
The R&B powerhouses convene for a new emotional ballad.
2021 is already popping off for Brent Faiyaz as he’s rolled out various singles including “Gravity” with Tyler, the Creator, “Eden” and “Show U Off”, the latter of which celebrated Women’s History Month. To conclude the first week of April, he’s returned with more material under his group Sonder to unveil a brand new single entitled “Nobody But You” that was crafted alongside Jorja Smith.
The R&B powerhouses join forces here on a smooth-yet-emotional new track, most of which is backdropped by the plucks of an acoustic guitar with the occasional percussive accompaniment. For the just over three and a half minute tune, Faiyaz and Smith alternate verses with their silky vocals and croon of trying to mend their imperfect relationship. The Fuck The World artist in this instance sings of recognizing his own faults of underperforming and states that he will try and make better efforts to moving forward. On the opposite end, Smith is reluctant to take his word, and makes a note that he only cares to fend for himself.
“Swore I’d be there, Swore that I’d catch you fall, I guess I couldn’t handle it,” Faiyaz belts. “Don’t think you cared about me,” Smith responds on the chorus.
