Patek Philippe Drops New Stainless Steel Ref 4947 Annual Calendar
Its ‘Shantung’ dial pattern is based on a silk weave.

Patek Philippe has been busy; not only did the brand drop an entirely new linear perpetual calendar earlier this week, but it has also revealed a stylish new 38mm stainless steel annual calendar too.
The Patek Philipp Ref. 4947/1A sees the debut of a redesigned polished five-link bracelet and a deep blue ‘Shantung’ dial, with a crosshatched pattern said to resemble the irregular silk weave of the same name.
In the metal, the effect is more pronounced than the images suggest, resembling vintage ‘linen’ watch dials, with applied white gold ‘Breguet’ numerals and hands sitting in contrast to the blue dial.
Using Patek’s tried and tested 324 s QA LU automatic movement, the watch indicates days and months using sub dials at the three and six o’clock position while moonphase and date are illustrated using apertures at the six o’clock position.
It’s unknown whether the brand will be celebrating the event, but this year marks 25 years since Patek Philippe first invented the annual calendar.
The Ref. 4947/1A is available now via Patek Philippe’s dealer network, priced £36,890 GBP ($50,870 USD).
