'Pokémon GO' Fest Is Back for 2021 In Celebration of the Game's Fifth Anniversary
No word yet on whether it’ll be completely virtual.

After a massively successful event last year, Niantic is bringing back its Pokémon GO Fest for 2021.
Taking place in the middle of July, this year’s “global event” will span across two days and celebrate some of the game and anime franchise’s important milestones. “2021 marks both the twenty-fifth anniversary of Pokémon and the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO, so trust us when we say you won’t want to miss Pokémon GO Fest 2021,” the developer’s blog post reads.
Other details remain scarce at this point, and there’s no mention of whether it’ll once again be virtual due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, but if 2020’s event was any indication, fans can rest assured that the festival will still be a fantastic experience. Last year, Niantic said that “a record number of millions of trainers” across 124 countries participated, capturing close to a billion pokémon together with each player walking an incredible 15km on average.
For fans of the franchise, Pokémon GO Fest 2021 will take place from July 17 to 18. Those interested should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come.
