Miguel Dives Into Fashion With Sustainable "Schedule 1 Concepts" Collection
The Grammy-winning musician tries his hand at eco-friendly fashion design.

Miguel is officially adding “designer” to his multi-hyphenate list of titles, as the first drop of his newly established fashion label Schedule 1 Concepts has just landed.
“[Schedule 1 Concepts] is pretty much shit I want to wear, produced sustainably and ethically because I got tired of it not existing,” he wrote on Instagram of the newly launched brand. Steering his creativity into fashion, the musician-turned-designer welcomed the brand’s debut collection, dubbed “S1C Core,” consisting of eight sustainable new designs, today.
In a statement to PAPER, Miguel explained that championing the intricacy of his multi-faceted identity is at the top of his agenda with this debut collection, noting that typical sustainable fashion practices are not directed at consumers like him.
“I think this speaks to the kids like me who grew up around punks and real hood dudes,” he told PAPER. “It’s about being edgy while still staying optimistic. I love the idea of sustainable things. But when I go to look for them, often they’re clothed for people who sort of live a completely different lifestyle. Like, I don’t do yoga, you know what I mean?”
Challenged with reinventing the eco-friendly production process, Miguel’s debut Schedule 1 Concepts collection features several tops, a hoodie, a T-shirt dress, limited edition pants, and a tote bag available in two colorways. Underscored by the visionary’s metropolitan influence, graffiti-inspired designs complement straight-forward branding on short-sleeve t-shirts, while baggy pants and oversized hoodies play into the grunge nature of streetwear. A standout in the range is a neutral-hued kimono jacket featuring flame stitching on both sleeves, elevating the line with more sophisticated tailoring.
Before today’s release, Miguel dropped two shirt styles last year to support timely social issues — the first was a long-sleeve T-shirt reading “Social Distancing Expert,” which directly benefited DirectRelief.org to provide masks and necessary equipment to frontline workers, and the second was a t-shirt boasting “Destroy Systemic Racism,” which helped BLD PWR, an organization that partners with grassroots causes and organizations to advance social change.
