Green Lantern Actor Talks Being Left Out of ‘Justice League: The Snyder Cut'
Wayne T. Carr reveals his true feelings about the decision.
At the most recent Justice Con, Zack Snyder revealed who he initially cast as Green Lantern in Justice League. Fans were surprised to hear about the events that caused the character of Green Lantern to be cut from the final film.
Actor, Wayne T. Carr, who was set to portray the superhero, revealed in an interview with LightCast that he was originally supposed to be a part of the HBO Max-premiered rework of the 2017 film. However, his scene was later dropped and replaced with the reveal of Martian Manhunter.
Carr said, “When I saw the full vision, I went through the journey like everybody went through the journey. Towards the end I realized, ‘Ugh. I’m not a part of this. Darn.’” The actor recalls director Zack Snyder saying they had plans to shoot his scene, however, it was still up to the Warner Bros. studio to ultimately give the character the green light or not.
Carr added, “This is kind of crazy because we shot it in what I’m going to call “Driveway Studios”. He called me after he showed it to everyone, I think it was the second time because they had watched it in parts. He was like, ‘They’re not letting me do this thing.’”
Concept artist Jojo Aguilar recently shared images of what Carr’s Green Lantern character would look like earlier this month and the actor said it “warmed his heart” seeing that fans have shown “nothing but love.” Carr said, “Like, I wasn’t even in the movie, and I’m just getting positive feedback from people and support. It’s super crazy. It’s absolutely crazy, but I love it.”
Carr appears to have no hard feelings over being cut from the final film.
