DMX Confirms Pop Smoke Collab on Upcoming Album
As well as a new cut with the Griselda crew.

As DMX prepares for the release of his next album, the veteran rapper shared a vital piece of information to get fans even more excited.
In a clip of an upcoming Drink Champs interview, Host N.O.R.E. brought up the topic of which new generation rappers could appear on the vet’s project. He first threw in names like Lil Tjay, Rick Ross and Meek Mill, but the Yonkers-born rapper had other ideas. “I got uh, Griselda boys, Pop Smoke,” X answered. “That’s what type of new I’m doing.”
DMX also confirmed that he and Pop Smoke unfortunately never had the chance to meet. “The growl and everything,” he said, referring to the late artist’s voice modulation, “It was just a coincidence.” The Drink Champs hosts then lightened up the mood by claiming that Smoke could have been 50 Cent and X’s musical love child, “But [50 Cent] would have the baby,” X quipped. “It would be ours, but he would have it.”
While the Pop Smoke collabs comes as a surprise, the Griselda partnership for this album seemed to be in the cards as early as December 2020. Westside Gunn took to Twitter to share a photo of him, Conway The Machine and Benny The Butcher in the studio with the caption “S/O to DMX & the Ruff Ryders.” The original image was pulled from Instagram and confirmed that the trio “put in that work” for a collab.
