New Balance's Made in US 990v5 Serves up a Crisp "Carbon/Team Red/White" Ensemble
Yet another foolproof offering from New Balance.

It’s been a hot minute since we last saw the New Balance Made in US 990v5, but now the sneaker is back in full force presenting itself in a crisp colorway of “Carbon/Team Red/White.”
As per usual, a mixture of leather and mesh can be found on the upper making out the shoe’s signature styling. For example, its toe box is split up between white mesh and “Carbon” suede overlays, with more of the same suede marking out the shoe’s eyestay placket and heel quarter, the two of which are sectioned off by a “Carbon” colored plastic insert.
Situated in between this is the white leather midsection that houses the brand’s “N” logo in metallic silver leather, while white mesh at the front-quarter and rear-quarter break up the design. The theme continues onto areas such as the white mesh tongue, where “Carbon” has been used to detail the tab that reads off the shoe’s name and plays home to a red and white “Made in the USA” plaque.
At the rear of the shoe, New Balance has tinted its heel clip in “Team Red,” while the “V” stamp appears in its classic shade of metallic silver. A white sole unit split using a “Carbon” colored ENCAP section — added for midsole cushioning — and red details on the outsole round out the pair’s exterior, while an ultra-comfy Ortholite insole completes the sneaker’s list of credentials.
