Did Jonathan Anderson Just Tease the Next LOEWE Studio Ghibli Collaboration?
The designer appears to have revealed the brand’s next project in an Instagram post.

LOEWE and Studio Ghibli are now a year into their ongoing collaborative relationship. So far, their pairing has borne a sell-out capsule collection which released in January of this year, using artworks from the 1988 film My Neighbour Totoro. Alongside that, the brand announced in October that it would provide financial support to the Ghibli Museum, as part of its long-running LOEWE Foundation.
Since then, there has been no sign of what the next release from the two companies could look like. It appears, though, that LOEWE’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, has teased what will come next.
Earlier this morning, Anderson uploaded a of teaser image to his personal Instagram account, suggesting that the brand will next be turning towards one of the studio’s most beloved films, 2001’s Spirited Away.
The image posted by Anderson shows the character Boh, in the mouse form which he is transformed into during the film, amongst scenes from the LOEWE Studio. He can be seen peering out from behind one of the brand’s signature shopping bags.
While there has been no official announcement about the project, or what it could entail, it’s a logical next step for the pair’s collaborative efforts. Of all of Studio Ghibli’s films, Spirited Away achieved the widest international impact, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature upon its release – the only non-English-language animated film to do so. Its characters, too, are some of Studio Ghibli’s most recognisable, from the multi-armed Kamaji to the ghostly No-Face.
Anderson captioned his post “Coming January 7” — stay tuned to HYPEBEAST for official confirmation of the project, and for more details as they emerge.
