Continuing to expand on its Heritage Edition series, Ford has now created a version of its iconic GT in a special livery paying tribute to its fruitful partnership with Alan Mann Racing in the ’60s.

Depicted in two new teaser images over on Twitter, the upcoming release dons the legendary racing team’s favorite colors of red, white and gold, inspired by the experimental GT40 racers the two companies built together back in 1966 that would go on to help the American automaker win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the time, Ford ordered five of the cars to be made but only two had ever come out of production, and while they were never chosen to enter into the race itself, the cars’ light alloy body panels and design philosophy contributed to much of Ford’s later success.

Check out the new teaser images above while you wait for Ford’s full reveal of its GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition.

Elsewhere in the automotive world, Porsche has unveiled a $355,000 USD Australia-exclusive 911 GT3.
