Wales Bonner Reimagines Archival adidas Originals Styles For FW21
Archival pieces refreshed through the designer’s inimitable lens.

Grace Wales Bonner and adidas Originals are reuniting for Fall/Winter 2021.
The designer — who released a capsule with the brand earlier this year — again draws inspiration from the diasporic radical thinkers of the 1980s, to design and present an elevated take on a series of classic archival adidas silhouettes.
This latest release is the third time the two have collaborated and forms a part of Bonner’s “Black Sunlight” collection, completing a trilogy alongside “Lovers Rock” in Fall/Winter 2020 and later “Essence” in Spring/Summer 2021.
1980s-inspired cuts and styles are once again fused with adidas silhouettes in the form of T-Shirts, trackpants, anoraks and more, taking notes from scholarly iconography and adorned with various collegiate graphics.
When it comes to footwear, the WB Japan sneaker arrives in a variety of colorways including “Dark Marine/Easy Yellow/Cream White” and “Hazy Yellow/Brown/Dark Brown” both of which boast uppers composed of nylon and plush leather stripes, as well as the “Cream White/Easy Yellow/Dark Brown” which houses a crocheted tongue and moccasin border stitching and a predominantly suede “Dark Brown/Collegiate Burgundy/Easy Yellow” take.
Captured with nostalgia-infused imagery shot by photographer Tyler Mitchell, the adidas Originals by Wales Bonner FW21 collection is set to drop on November 16, with footwear following in early 2022. Pairs are also available via GOAT right now in case you missed out.
In other news, Jil Sander+ x Arc’teryx FW21 has been unveiled and it’s the perfect mix of both form and function.
