The First 'Scream' Trailer Welcomes the Ghostface Killer's Horrific Return
The franchise’s fifth film reunites Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox.
Paramount Pictures has dropped the first trailer for Scream, the fifth installment in the franchise directed by Matthew Bettinelli-Olphin and Tyler Gillet.
Marking the return of the Ghostface killer, the latest film reunites several top-shelf players from the original Scream 25, including Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, each of whom have reprised their respective roles in several sequels. Helmed by the duo who directed Ready or Not, the movie also stars newcomers Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Sonia Ammar.
The visual begins with the classic thriller narrative of a home-alone woman who is terrorized and killed after receiving a call from a masked murderer. Bouncing between several horrific scenes, the trailer then reveals that the devilish character will not stop at anything in its mission to annihilate its selected targets, while those who are still living refuse to give up their fight to eliminate the evil killer from existence.
Scream employs the franchise’s long-time screenwriter Kevin Williamson as producer, alongside James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. This film marks the first Scream movie that will not be directed by Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015.
The movie will hit theaters on January 14, 2022. Watch the first trailer for Scream above.
