Olderbrother’s FW21 Collection Is the Antithesis of Fast Fashion
A gender-neutral and more transparent approach to clothing.
Naturally dyed, minimally tailored and sustainably produced clothing is something Olderbrother has been championing since its inception in 2014. Founded by Max Kingery, the Portland-based label, which is now based in LA, approaches fashion from an alternative angle — one that’s kinder and certainly more transparent.
From its whimsical gender-neutral collections that have been crafted from sustainably-sourced fabrics like organic Japanese cotton, to the edible pigment-made dyes it uses to color its clothing, Olderbrother’s refreshing take on fashion is something that’s seen it garner quite the following.
Now some seven years since its birth, Bonaparte and Kingery present Olderbrother’s “Fermentation” collection for Fall/Winter 2021, a selection of earthy and natural colored pieces inspired by transformation through the unseen microbial world.
Stand-out pieces include the Sherpa Chore Coat which is made from organic Japanese cotton and the Tile Patch Zip Jacket which boasts a 1970s deadstock aluminium zipper and tile patch detailing created from upcycled fabric defects.
