With less than a month away from the theatrical release of King Richard, Warner Bros. has released a new trailer, this time focusing on the Will Smith playing Venus and Serena Williams‘ loving and doting father.
Smith is cast as the titular character, “King” Richard Williams, also known as the father and coach of two of tennis’ biggest stars. Young Serena and Venus are played by Demi Singleton and Saniyya Sidney, respectively. While the trailer still showcases some of the evident drama, it also shows another side of King Richard. The trailer gives audiences a glimpse at the relationship the two girls have with their father and focuses less on Williams as a coach. The trailer also previews a new song from Beyoncé titled “Be Alive.”
The initial trailer largely highlighted on Williams’ coaching tactics and later gets into a heated discussion with his wife Oracene, played by Aunjanue Ellis, for overworking and not considering his daughter’s feelings.
King Richard will arrive in theaters and on HBO Max on November 19. Check out the trailer above.
