John Boyega Joins the Converse All-Stars Program
Spotlighting emerging Black talent in the film industry.
John Boyega is joining the Converse All-Stars Program to spotlight young Black talent in the film industry. The project, which is committed to bringing new experiences for young people to learn more about the creative industry.
The program is expected to provide young creatives a community where they have access to mentorship, commissions and funding that will help propel their professional experience forward. The program is also expected to connect emerging voices with established talents in the industry and is bringing the commitment to London with the John Boyega partnership to launch the Create Next Film Project. The project aims to continue to give emerging leaders in the creative field a chance to showcase their work and share their voices.
Boyega comments on the collaboration stating, “I approached Converse with a desire to start a domino effect in creating opportunities. Black talent is underrepresented in the film industry, and I’ve always wanted to create pathways for young talent. This partnership with Converse is the first step in me trying to address that.”
The actor will work alongside five London filmmakers – Ade Femzo, Kaylen Francis, Kemi Anna Adeeko, Lorraine Khamali and Ibrahim Muhammad – who have joined the Converse All-Star community. Each of the creatives will receive funding for their five-minute films as well as mentorship from the seasoned acting veteran. Joining the mentorship panel are Mathieu Ajan of Bounce Cinema and Shannie Mears from The Elephant Room.
