G-SHOCK Suits-Up With Titanium GMW-B5000TVA
Laser-etched DLC titanium watch is inspired by heroic powered armor.
G-SHOCK’s latest drop takes its inspiration from the powered suits that supercharge human characters throughout anime and video games.
G-SHOCK coveys the effect by laser-etching the watch’s specifications, model number and warning marks into its diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated titanium for a “gritty, near-future feel” that evokes military hardware.
Bore holes have also been laser cut into the bracelet links and case revealing the “resin buffering component” revealed beneath the black titanium case.
The display is covered with an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal which is printed with a grid motif rather than the model’s usual brick pattern. The design includes playful touches such as speech balloons containing the button function.
The Tough Solar-powered watch is water resistant to 200m and features a smartphone link, five world times, five alarms, stopwatch and Multi Band 6 radio-controlled timekeeping.
The GMW-B5000TVA1 drops in later this month via G-SHOCK UK.
Elsewhere in watches, Audemars Piguet drops six new gem-set Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillons.
