Bruno Sialelli‘s vision for Lanvin continues to intrigue and surprise, as during its Spring/Summer 2022 presentation at Paris Fashion Week it debuted a collaboration with a particular Warner Bros. and DC superhero: Batman.
Most notably, Lanvin’s ’90s skateboarding and Osiris D3-indebted sneaker, the Curb, played host to the collaboration. The oversized padded tongue that appears on the sneaker has been given a Batman overhaul, seeing the caped crusader’s mask rework the tongue in pink and black tones. It appears alongside an upper decorated in purple suede and black rubber, which is more like the color palette for The Joker if anything, while the quintessential fat laces round out the pair.
As for the rest of the capsule collection debuted on the runway, we find Batman, his trusty companion, and his foes inform a range of garments for SS22. A graphic shirt is an undeniable hit, seeing Batman grace the right-hand side of a shirt while the other is black, as if the superhero is glaring into the night. Purple tones highlight leather shorts and more Curb sneakers, while satin bomber jackets also appear in purple.
More split shirts appear in the form of the Batmobile set against the backdrop of Gotham paired with a teal left-hand-side, while a satin tank top also features this design. Lastly, a standout blazer in grey melange has been printed with Batman and Robin all over the front, making for a piece that’s destined for the future archive.
Uniforms outfitted in petrol blue and shiny purple, or a double-breasted blazer also in purple, further remind us of The Joker, but we can only suspect the collaboration has informed Sialelli’s vision for this season. Take a closer look at the collaborative pieces above, as well as some SS22 highlights.
