Champion x Denim Tears Releases Alvin Ailey Dance Theater-Inspired Collection
Featuring collegiate style sweatsuits, crochet knitwear, graphic t-shirts and more.
Champion has teamed up with Denim Tears for a capsule collection that honors the history of the renowned Black-founded dance company, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater.
Titled Champion Tears, Denim Tears founder Tremaine Emory was inspired by movement and Ailey’s dance heritage in designing the collaborative collection. It features collegiate style sweatsuits, sweatshirts, t-shirts, crochet knitwear and hats in an assortment of colors, while the Pan-African colors of red, green and black are intentionally speckled across crotchet knits, hoodies and Champion’s signature logo. A collection highlight includes a selection of t-shirts that showcase historic images from Alvin Ailey Dance Theater.
To bring the new collection to life, Emory co-directed a campaign film with actor and dancer Taylour Paige at the Queen’s Museum in New York, specifically showcasing the Unisphere sculpture and The Panorama of the City of New York installation.
The Champion Tears collection launches Tuesday, October 26 online at Champion and Denim Tears.
