Despite the fact that J. Cole‘s Puma RS-Dreamer has only been available on the market for six months, the “platinum no features” rapper is ready to further advance his signature hoops lineage this month with the debut of his next silhouette — the Puma DREAMER 2. The court-ready model’s inaugural colorway entitled “January 28” after his song on the 2014 Forest Hills Drive album has just been uncovered by way of detailed photography.

Abstractly shaped overlays and a healthy blend of materials which make up the base layer are kept in tact, but the biggest deviation here is that this new offering comes prepared with a higher stature. For this heightened silhouette, “Moe Dee” and Puma engineer the upper half in a louder yellow hue that is built with mesh underlay and a blend of leather, suede and synthetic materials layered on top. Various textures are visible on the base including that of the ventilated holes on the eyestays, as well as the puffer-like padded panels and perforated suedes which arrive on the medial wall.

Save for the red pods on the outsoles, the rest of the bottom sole unit is coated with black, and features block-like textures that cover the mid-foot and around the rear. Branding is present via RS and Puma hits printed down the tongue tabs and footbeds, in addition to the cloud shapes that house a “dreamer” spell out affixed to the heels.

To announce the shoes, the two parties playfully reimagined the 2014 Forest Hills Drive album cover art by showing the artist posted up on the roof while rockin’ the kicks.

The DREAMER 2 retails for $135 and will be available at the PUMA NYC Flagship Store, PUMA’s website, through Foot Locker family websites and select stockists worldwide on January 28 which happens to be J. Cole‘s birthday.

For more footwear news, Neymar Jr. and Puma recently unveiled the FUTURE Z 1.1 Boot.
