Luke, the 'Star Wars' x adidas Superstar "Darth Vader" Is Your Father
A new Superstar(wars) for the feared Sith Lord, packed full of special details.
Star Wars and adidas Originals have been paying tribute to The Empire Strikes Back‘s 40th anniversary with commemorative silhouettes over the course of the year, and the latest style to debut is a Darth Vader-inspired Superstar. Joining a Luke Skywaker Stan Smith, Stormtrooper NMD R1, Lando Calrissian NMD R1 V2 and Boba Fett Top Ten Hi, the feared Sith Lord’s Superstar(wars) pull from his garb, visage, and famous quotes for a detailed acknowledgement of one of sci-fi’s most famed villains.
Uppers are done up in stark matte black leather, feature embroidered seams and are overlaid with a black patent leather Three Stripe graphic — all nods to the color and texture of Vader’s suit. “Superstar” is printed on the lateral quarter in red, and the red heel tab offers a Galactic Empire logo. Tongues feature a red, white and black portrait of the former Jedi, while insoles add another printed graphic.
Most notable on the top half are the rubber toeboxes, thanks to a textured embellishment of Vader’s mask and helmet that’s raised up off its base. Black metal lace deubres are interchangeable: wearers can choose between a “Star Wars” logo or a Vader helmet and Death Star combo. Finally, “I am Your Father” — The Empire Strikes Back‘s most famous line — can be seen printed under the translucent outsoles.
The Star Wars x adidas Originals Superstar “Darth Vader” will release on the adidas webstore come September 17. The MSRP is set at $120 USD.
