adidas Originals has looked into its archives once again and has produced a new sneaker called the Response CL, which draws influence from 2000s running technology and silhouettes.

The Response CL was developed alongside adidas’ Consortium division and is an ode to the mid-’00s. It’s based on the upper of the Response Cushion from 2003, while the sole unit and internals feature adiPRENE and Formotion tooling from later on in the 2000s.

As a result, the Response CL offers nostalgia while being relevant today, as the chunky sneaker continues to prevail. adidas Originals offers the inaugural pairs in “White/Navy/Black” and “White/Green/Navy,” two colorways that perfectly highlight the sneaker’s layered mesh, synthetic leather, and TPU upper.

adidas Originals left no stone unturned when making sure these shoes were a real throwback. The EQT-styled branding on the tongue appears as a metal-like plaque, while more metal tones appear on the toe and on the eyestay. Shiny TPU has been used as a backdrop for more silver branding on the heel, while a clear component on the sole unit at the rear rounds out the shoe and its retro aesthetic.

The adidas Originals Response CL is set drop in “White/Navy/Black” and “White/Green/Navy” on September 5 for £99 GBP (approx. $133 USD). Both will be available from retailers such as Sneakerstuff, as well as on adidas’ website.

In other news, the second round of “PRADA FOR ADIDAS” is nearly here.
