Jhené Aiko Revels in Her Freedom in "Speak" Visual
A cut taken from her latest full-length, ‘Chilombo.’
Jhené Aiko has shared an accompanying music video for “Speak,” a cut taken from her latest full-length effort Chilombo.
Directed by Brandon Parker, the visual sees the songstress enjoying a day of self-care at home, doing everything from cleaning to writing music and enjoying a calming bubble bath. Aiko is evidently at her happiest as she sings of freedom and escaping judgment from a certain individual, urging her listeners to “Speak” their truth with an empowering chorus that hears, “Speak from my heart, baby/Speak from my soul, sugah/Say what you want, lady/Act like you know who you are. Speak from your gut, honey/Say what you want, my love/Be who you wanna be/Speak, speak, speak, speak/Be free.”
Chilombo dropped in March 2020 followed by its deluxe version in July. Aiko’s Trip followup peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 to become her highest-charting album yet and became her fifth No. 1 effort on the Top R&B Albums chart.
