Xiaomi's Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition Is the World’s First Mass-Produced Transparent TV

During its 10-year-anniversary event, Xiaomi revealed the world’s first mass-produced transparent TV, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition.
Building on its minimalist design and flagship configurations, the monumental 55” 5.7mm ultra-thin display features an edge-to-edge transparent self-luminous design. The TV looks to suspend images in the air and when turned off stands as just a transparent piece of glass.
Reinventing the way TVs are traditionally designed, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition houses all of its processing units in its base stand. The transparent OLED panel features a 150000:1 static contrast ratio and an infinite dynamic contrast ratio, offering extra rich blacks and unmatched brightness. Leveraging its DCI-P3 93% color spectrum support, the 10-bit panel displays 1.07 billion color combination which is far beyond what the human eye can perceive. Additionally, the 120Hz refresh rate and 120Hz MEMC technology ensure a 1ms fast response rate that provides a low latency smoother and clearer motion representation.
Utilizing Xiaomi’s AI Master Smart Engine and MediaTek 9650 custom-made TV chip, the TV features over 20 optimization algorithms and dedicated optimization for five major use scenarios to intelligently refines graphic resolution for vibrant pictures. The technology with Dolby Atmos support detects the type of content on display to choose a fitting audio mode. Finally, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition runs on the customizable MIUI interface designed to control the visual features built into the TV.
Priced at ¥50,000 RMB (approximately $7,195 USD), Xiaomi’s Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition set to officially release August 16.
