ASICS's GEL-Sonoma 5 Receives Weatherproof GORE-TEX Update
Equipped with AmpliFoam cushioning technology.
ASICS has delivered two distinctive colorways of its GEL Sonoma 5, equipped with weatherproof GORE-TEX uppers —”Directoire Blue” and “Triple Black.” The silhouette is constructed with a slightly slimmed-down construction, a similar build to that of ASICS’ recent Reigning Champ collab on the GEL-Nimbus 22.
A woven “ASICS” tag is placed at the top of the shoe, over a breathable mesh tongue. Flat laces are looped through sleek rubber overlays that cover the body, complemented by leather side stripe panels. A ripstop pull tab appears at the back of the shoe, followed by a molded heel support, while other details like mesh at the upper quarters and toebox, “GEL-Sonoma” branding and a leather toecap round off the functional design of the uppers. All of these features rest over a well-cushioned GEL midsole, packed with AmpliFoam technology for optimal comfort and support.
