Netflix Renews 'Money Heist' for Fifth and Final Season
“The heist comes to an end.”
Almost four months after its fourth season was released, Netflix has now confirmed that the hit Spanish series Money Heist will be returning for a fifth season.
The news was first announced via Netflix’s Twitter and the show’s own Instagram page, accompanied by the line “The heist comes to an end,” confirming that the fifth season will also be the show’s final season. Those who have finished watching season four will know that the series ended on a massive cliffhanger, and its creator and executive producer Alex Pina has said that the upcoming final season will only get more intense: “We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band. How to put the Professor on the ropes,” he says. “How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of La Casa de Papel. The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season.” Production is due to commence this month in Spain, Denmark, and Portugal, although the ongoing coronavirus pandemic may cause certain delays.
There’s currently no official release date for Money Heist season five, so fans of the series should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come.
