Incredibly, eBay recently saw a new record for the most expensive Magic: The Gathering card ever sold on the site. Daniel Chang, owner of Vintage Magic LLC and eBay seller, sold mint-condition Black Lotus card for $250,000 USD.

But this wasn’t just any Black Lotus, it is part of the limited-edition Alpha set, which was the very first printing of Magic cards ever made and received the highest possible grading from Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA 10). The last similar sale on eBay was for a PSA 9.5 Black Lotus that fetched $200,000 USD. According to reports, searches for Magic: The Gathering cards have gone up 20 percent on eBay since March 2020 with at least one search every second on the marketplace.

In case you missed it, learn why Magic: The Gathering isn’t feeding the trolls.
