VEIN's SS21 Collection Is Inspired by the 'Matrix'
Connecting the hyperrealism of the film with directional designs.

Japanese label VEIN presents its latest Spring Summer 2021 collection designed by Koki Enomoto. Enomoto has cut his teeth at some of Japan’s most progressive fashion brands which include ATTACHMENT, UNDERCOVER and JULIUS. Only just a few years old, the fledgling label looks to impress with a new collective inspired by the movie The Matrix. The film, directed by the Wachowski sisters, is considered a sci-fi classic which explores themes such as the rule of artificial intelligence, reality as a simulation and the war between humans and technology.
For his designs, Enomoto blends ethereal concepts with both streetwear and tailored flair. For the streetwear aspect of the line, we see directional denim, cinched trousers and oversized shorts. Loose tailoring, relaxed buttoned shirts and straight cut pants reflect the more suited aspect of the range. Leather, which is heavily worn by the characters of The Matrix is utilized in this collection in the form of tops and shorts.
VEIN is a promising brand from Japan which made its debut just Spring of last year. Enomoto is another name to watch out for in Japan’s growing fashion talent pool.
