Nick Cave Drops Intimate Trailer for Solo Piano Concert Film 'Idiot Prayer'
Filmed at London’s Alexandra Palace in June 2020.
Nick Cave has shared a trailer for his upcoming solo piano concert film, Idiot Prayer.
Recorded at London’s Alexandra Palace in June 2020, the trailer sees the musician walking through the empty venue while reciting a poem about Elvis until he finally reaches a grand piano placed in the center of a quiet room.
According to Cave, the concert film’s idea stemmed from his recent Q&A tours .“I loved playing deconstructed versions of my songs at these shows, distilling them to their essential forms — with an emphasis on the delivery of the words,” he said. “I felt I was rediscovering the songs all over again, and started to think about going into a studio and recording these reimagined versions at some stage — whenever I could find the time.”
Idiot Prayer is the third in a concert film trilogy, following 20,000 Days On Earth and One More Time With Feeling.
