Gerard Way Drops 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 2 Track "Here Comes the End"
‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 2 premieres July 31.
Gerard Way has released a new solo single, “Here Comes the End.” Recorded for the second season of his Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, the track clocks in at three-and-a-half minutes and features additional vocals from the late Michael Jackson‘s duet partner, Judith Hill.
According to reports, the My Chemical Romance frontman was initially inspired to create a glam rock track while The Umbrella Academy Season 1 was being filmed. “By the time I finished it,” he added, “2020 was in full swing, the world had taken a profound turn and the song was finished in a surreal new reality.”
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 follows the Hargreeves siblings trying to reunite after they escaped the 2019 apocalypse. However, getting back together might be a little harder than anticipated as they each landed between 1960 and 1963.
In addition to working on the series, Way and My Chemical Romance have announced rescheduled tour dates for 2021 after COVID-19 derailed their reunion plans.
