According to reports, TRON 3 is now in development once again. Originally called TRON: Ascension, the third installment which continues the story of the first two movies was scrapped back in 2015 due to the critical and box office failure of Tomorrowland.

Disney executive Mitchell Lieb revealed that TRON 3 is now officially back in development during an episode of Light The Fuse podcast. Despite early rumors the upcoming installment would be a reboot, Jared Leto is expected to serve as lead star in the sequel. With a scrip already ready, Lieb notes that he hopes TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski can return for the film and Daft Punk can provide another soundtrack.

Stay tuned for more details regarding TRON 3.
