Trailer for 'Lucky Grandma' Introduces an Aging Widow Embroiled in a Chinatown Gang War
Sasie Sealy’s dark comedy starring Tsai Chin arrives digitally on May 22.
The official trailer for director Sasie Sealy’s latest film Lucky Grandma, has arrived. The film, which stars legendary actress Tsai Chin, follows a chain-smoking, newly-widowed grandma who seeks to fulfill her destiny after visiting a fortune teller. As showcased in the dark comedy’s trailer, she heads to a local casino and wins big, catching the unfortunate attention of a local gang. She eventually hires a bodyguard from a rival group of thugs (played by Corey Ha) and soon becomes embroiled in a Chinatown gang war.
Lucky Grandma was written by Sealy as well as Angela Cheng and includes co-stars Michael Tow, Wai Ching Ho, Woody Fu, and Clem Cheung. The film initially won AT&T’s Untold Stories competition in 2019 and later premiered at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival. Lucky Grandma arrives via virtual cinema Kino Marquee on May 22.
