Netflix's 'The Midnight Gospel' Gets a Cosmically-Trippy Trailer
A surreal technicolor world dreamed up by ‘Adventure Time’ creator Pendleton Ward.
Netflix has continued to showcase its imaginative framework for mature audiences over the years, introducing audiences to BoJack Horseman and last year’s highly-acclaimed animated series, Love, Death & Robots. The streaming giant’s latest animated offering for adults is titled The Midnight Gospel and brings some familiar names on board for a wildly cosmic trip. Dreamed up by Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward alongside comedian Duncan Trussell and animated by Titmouse, the new series promises a psychedelic visual trip that’s fittingly set to release on April 20, 2020.
Contrasting Adventure Time, which was geared towards a more child-friendly audience, The Midnight Gospel takes things up a notch, unleashing Ward’s surreal technicolor world in a manner that’s clearly aimed at a more mature viewership. The plot specifically follows Clancy, “ a spacecaster with a malfunctioning multiverse simulator who leaves the comfort of his extra-dimensional home on the Chromatic Ribbon to interview beings living in other worlds.”
