The original toy was released in the mid-’90s three years after the debut of the comic series and came with an accompanying comic book itself. In a similar fashion, the newly remastered edition will also feature a pack-in comic illustrated by Todd McFarlane himself, drawing from the original 1995 cover.
As for the toy itself, Al Simmons will now stand slightly taller than its predecessor at seven inches, with double the articulation thanks to 25 years of action figure expertise. His cape is now flexible and foldable, allowing sharp edges with a detailed shading effect. The entire package now comes with a sleek black slipcase instead of the original molded plastic shell, making it perfect for collectors.
The original Kickstarter asked for $100,000 USD, but as of writing, it has already brought in $1,310,479 USD. A $40 USD pledge would secure you the Spawn figure and comic, while higher price tiers will get you extras such as a three-pack, custom heads for the figure, or even an autograph from McFarlane.
