Aesop Rock Shares New EP, 'Music From The Game Freedom Finger'
Accompanied by a music video directed by Jim Dirschberger.
Following up on 2019’s Malibu Ken project with TOBACCO, Aesop Rock has returned with his new EP, Music From The Game Freedom Finger. Clocking in at just over 20 minutes, the 10-track collection of music was composed by the MC/producer for the video game Freedom Finger. The release is accompanied by a music video for “Drums on the Wheel” directed by Jim Dirschberger, and features gameplay, visuals from Travis Millard and animation from Steven Gong.
“I was approached by my old friend Travis Millard to make some original music for Freedom Finger – a crazy space-shooter video game he had been developing with Jim Dirschberger and Wide Right Interactive game studio,” the recered artist said in a statement. “I provided some instrumentals that pop up at various points throughout the gameplay. As the game was being rolled out, the idea arose to have me do three more tracks – this time fully fleshed out songs with lyrics inspired by Freedom Finger’s gameplay. These tracks were intended to accompany some brand new levels that would be made available as downloadable content for the game.”
The album will also be available as a 10” vinyl EP, and includes the three full-length vocal tracks, its instrumentals and four bonus beats that loop throughout the game. Additional instrumentation from Aesop Rock’s friends and frequent collaborators, Grimace Federation, will also be featured.
