In celebration of the brand’s unisex footwear philosophy, Converse is now dropping its first-ever genderless apparel collection.

Named “SHAPES,” the line of gender-agnostic clothing is based on Chuck Taylor‘s own approach to creating unisex silhouettes for modern consumers. The designs are based around body shapes instead of gender, shifting the focus to using size as a reference point over identity. Five core pieces will be offered in four sizes only, as compared to the 14 general sizes spanning across conventional men and women’s collections, and all five will be made from 50 percent recycled cotton and 50 percent virgin cotton.

“When starting design from a non-traditional place, there are endless opportunities to reimagine everything from construction to sizing to materials,” says VP of Global Apparel at Converse Jonathan Tappan. “SHAPES is the perfect example of how to meet the consumer in their element. By bringing functionality, inclusivity and comfort to everyday clothes, we believe we can really change the game.”

Along with SHAPES, Converse will be releasing two other collections: Utility Fleece and Court Ready. The former will launch Summer 2020, with the latter two following in Fall 2020 and early 2021.
