Active Child Announces New LP With Poignant Single "Weightless"
Sharing an accompanying visual by GRAMMY-nominated director Andy Hines.
Experimental multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Patrick Grossi of Active Child has announced his third studio album, In Another Life, which follows 2015’s Mercy. Grossi commemorated the news with the project’s first single, “Weightless,” supplying an accompanying visual that is the first of a two-part narrative series.
The track, co-produced by Andrew Sarlo (Bon Iver, Big Thief) and featuring Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) on drums, the single remains a poignantly-packed exploration of life and death, with Active Child noting that “Weightless” is characterized as “the desperation to detach from the past.” The visual, directed by GRAMMY-nominated director Andy Hines (Kanye West, Lizzo), showcases the first part of a two-part narrative that helps in relaying the album’s overarching concept, showcasing Grossi in various moments throughout his life as he grapples with the inevitable.
In Another Life will feature ten new tracks from Grossi, and will examine “life, death, and the various evolutions that happen between the two.” The album will arrive via Sony Music Masterworks on April 10. You can watch the visual for “Weightless” above and catch the album’s tracklist below.
