Yashiki SS20 Yields Clean Silhouettes and Perfectly Slouchy Knitwear
Sayatomo Yashiki’s eponymous brand offers more effortless warm weather looks.

Yashiki designer Sayatomo Yashiki is obsessed with clean lines and versatile garments, informed by the approachable knitwear produced in its local Gunma Prefecture. For Spring/Summer 2020, dubbed “KAZEKAORU” (風薫る, which translates to “summer breeze”), the brand continues to develop its silhouettes, expanding into slouchier looks without sacrificing its trim cuts.
Baggy sweaters, sturdy cardigans and 3/4-sleeved tees appear throughout the range, showcasing Yashiki’s effortless subversion of timeless menswear. For instance, a conventional polo shirt is expanded into a drapey pullover sweater, embellished with jacquard patterns and exaggerated seams. The styling highlights the effortless ethos of Yashiki, with a generous sweater vest stacked on top of a boxy tee, and a thigh-length woven shirt anchored by a drop-shoulder cardigan. Trousers from the brand’s sister label, Sayatomo, reinforce the easygoing attitude, with wide drawstring pants, pleated slacks and raw-hemmed jeans reinforcing the appealingly unbothered motif.
Stockists like Nstore and ATTIC will receive the new Yashiki goods in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere in Japan, NUMBER (N)INE introduced a new array of graphic goods for SS20.
