UK-based footwear specialist size? has continued its 20th anniversary celebrations by debuting an exclusive Vans Sk8-Hi release. The new take on the silhouette draws inspiration from the birth of punk, with a particular reference to The Ramones‘ first ever gig at CBGB’s in August 1974.
The influence of this scene is apparent in the materials used on the shoe, all of which are inspired by the iconic outfits worn by The Ramones. Black leather appears on the toebox and lacing system in tribute to the leather jackets the band wore, while the use of blue denim and a scuffed jazz stripe are a reference to skinny jeans and the striped tongue is in honor of their T-shirts. Finishing off the design is a tab on the midsole marks the date of the gig.
The punk-inspired Vans Sk8-Hi is set to arrive at the size? web store and select stockists on February 28.
In other footwear news, Vans has mixed its signature checkerboard pattern with tie-dye for a new release.
