Global pop superstar Usher has quite an appetite for metallic gold Jordan Brand sneakers. In years past, the Atlanta-boorn crooner responsible for earworms like “Yeah!” and “My Boo” has taken to the stage in all-gold takes on the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 9 and Air Jordan 11, flashy styles specifically crafted to add a punch of flair to his signature all-black performance fits. Now, thanks to avid PE archivist Drew English (aka @englishsole), we’ve been given a look at Usher’s masterful metallic Air Jordan 3.
First revealed in 2014 and reportedly limited to a scant 10 pairs — one of which was spotted on Usher in a Honey Nut Cheerios commercial, another on then-Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving in 2015 — the opulent take on Michael Jordan‘s third signature sneaker boasts an upper made entirely of reflective gold patent leather, save for a black leather collar lining. Three stars are embroidered on the outside of the tongue, and Usher’s name is stitched onto the inner tongue. Golden elephant print adds compelling texture above the gold midsoles, and the look is finalized by woven laces and icy translucent outsoles.
Since this Air Jordan 3 is indeed a sample, it’ll never see a retail release. However, you can feast your eyes on it above and check out the latest installment of HYPEBEAST’s weekly Best Footwear Drops list for info on shoes that you can purchase.
