Nike's Adapt Auto-Lacing Is Coming To the Air Jordan 11

Jordan Brand is celebrating 25 years of the Air Jordan 11, introducing the XI Jubilee and the XI Adapt. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the shoe originally debuted in 1995 on the feet of the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan after he just came out of retirement and has solidified itself as one of the greatest basketball (and now lifestyle shoes) in the world.

First up in this celebratory pack is the Air Jordan 11 Adapt. As the name suggests, this sneaker is equipped with Nike‘s Adapt auto-lacing function, which is controlled by the wearer through the Nike Adapt app and by small buttons on the lateral-side midsole. The app will allow wearers to not just control how the shoe fits them in real-time, but also how the midsole buttons appear — for example, changing the color scheme or making them flash.

The sneaker is served in a white colorway that’s complemented by the icy outsole, black mesh tongue and matching Adapt laces, while a white ripstop covering overlays the Adapt technology. Altogether, it brings the iconic silhouette into a contemporary world, both technically and visually.

Joining this is the Air Jordan 11 Jubilee. It gets its name from the occasion it is celebrating, as a jubilee is celebrated every 25 years. It features a host of special details such as a silver-toned Jumpman logo on the rear-quarter, Jordan lettering on the eyestays (which is an ode to OG samples), and a “25” stamp on the insole in place of “23” to further mark the occasion. Black patent leather is accompanied by black mesh on the tongue and sides, while a white midsole fitted with a clear outsole rounds out the pair.

Jordan Brand will release the Air Jordan 11 Jubilee on December 12 and the AJ11 Adapt on December 30 through the Nike SNKRS app. Take a closer look at both pairs above.
