New Balance Highlights Made in the USA 992 and 990v5 With Neon Accents
Hi-vis takes on two popular lifestyle models.
New Balance has given two of its popular made in the USA models — the 992 and 990v5 — a pop of vibrance for the fall with neon-accented colorways. One may be more relaxed while the other presents a more stark look but each combines its quality construction with an appealing palette, making for a pair of worthy additions to the NB lifestyle lineup.
992s offer the duo’s more laid-back style, splitting their mesh-and-suede upper between gray on the forefoot and mudguard and black on the midfoot, collar and throat. Touches of hi-vis reflective silver material grace both toebox overlays and heel piece. Neon yellow is sprinkled around the tongue and heel, is place above the toebox and trims the midfoot’s N logo. Two-tone midsoles with ABZORB cushioning add a little more neon on forefoot and heel alike to finalize the look.
On the other hand, 990v5s offer a much more striking color contrast by only using two main tones instead of three. Just like their counterparts, uppers are made entirely of mesh and suede — however, here, the entire assemblage is dressed in black. Laces and collar trim alike are swathed in neon yellow, and the quarter’s large silver N supplies more neon piping. Trim black ENCAP midsoles and highlighter-hued outsoles round off the style.
Both of these made in the USA sneakers are available now via the New Balance webstore, with the 992 priced at $180 USD and the 990v5 arriving at $175 USD.
