OutKast Receives New Platinum Certifications for Three 'Stankonia' Tracks
Including a triple platinum certification for “Ms. Jackson.”
Three tracks from OutKast‘s Stankonia have officially received platinum certification from the RIAA as the influential album celebrates its 20th anniversary this 2020.
The RIAA website states that the group’s “B.O.B.” and “So Fresh So Clean” have sold one million units each to go platinum, while “Mrs. Jackson” has sold three million units to go triple platinum. All three tracks are filed under the “Digital” category rather than the “Standard,” meaning that track downloads, audio and video streams (including on-demand streams) are counted in the units.
The new certifications arrive shortly after OutKast announced the 20th-anniversary edition of Stankonia, which will receive a total of six bonus tracks and an exclusive double LP pressed on “Black and White Galaxy” vinyl with an art print.
Elsewhere in music, TikTok introduced a John Lennon account for what would have been the musician’s 80th birthday.
