Netflix Shares Teaser and Release Date of 'Selena: The Series'
Following the life of the late Queen of Tejano music.
Netflix is taking a deep dive into the life of the late Selena Quintanilla in the upcoming TV show Selena: The Series.
The first installment in the two-part series is set to hit the streaming service on December 4, and will see Christian Serratos as the titular character, Seidy Lopez as Selena’s mother Marcella, Gabriel Cavarria as her brother A.B, Neomi Gonzalez as her sister Suzette and Madison Taylor Baez as a young Selena. The show will follow the life of the Queen of Tejano music from childhood up till her rise to fame, and will detail the difficult decisions she and her family have had to make along the way.
Selena is undeniably one of the most celebrated Latin artists in history and is widely considered as the artist that put a spotlight on Tejano music in the ’90s. She had only released four studio albums before she was murdered by Yolanda Saldivar, the president of her fan club and manager of her clothing boutiques, two weeks before her 24th birthday. Her posthumous album Dreaming of You opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making Selena the first Latin artist to ever achieve this feat.
Watch the teaser above. Selena: The Series premieres December 4 only on Netflix.
Elsewhere in entertainment, The Batman will be delayed until early 2022.
