An 'MTV Cribs' Reboot Has Been Announced

MTV is officially reviving its famed reality series MTV Cribs more than a decade after it first went off the air.

According to reports, MTV International and Viacom will reboot two different versions of the show — one focusing on celebrity homes outside of the United States and one focusing on properties Stateside. The international edition will debut first on October 26, 2020 and feature guests such as Caitlyn Jenner, Stefflon Don, Alyssa Edwards and Gemma Collins, while its U.S. counterpart will see an early 2021 premiere.

“As we spend more time at home this year, our fascination with where and how others live is growing,” Craig Orr, VP of original content and development for youth and entertainment at ViacomCBS Networks International, said in a statement. “’MTV Cribs’ continues to connect our worldwide audiences with their favorite stars as they welcome us into their homes for an exclusive tour. This is pure property porn escapism at its most fabulous.”

The original MTV Cribs first aired in 2000 and ran for 13 seasons. It took a closer look at the lavish homes of celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey and Kim Kardashian-West, and by 2005 had showcased approximately 185 properties. It went off the air in 2008 and received brief reboots in 2010, 2011 and 2017, but the forthcoming revival is the first time it’ll be back on the MTV channels in over a decade.
