KEEN and ELNEST CREATIVE ACTIVITY Head Back 13,000 Years for Jōmon-Inspired Clogs
Collage uppers featuring images of stone tools and clay figurines.
KEEN‘s latest Howser Slide enlists the help of Arata Iura and his ELNEST CREATIVE ACTIVITY imprint. The clog features collage artwork inspired by Japan’s Jōmon period.
The Jōmon people lived over 13,000 years ago and were a hunter-gatherer indigenous group with a rich history. Their story has been told on the uppers of the clogs as seen in the pottery, stone tools, clay figurines, and accessories covering the recycled PET uppers. The LUFTCELL PU footbed has also been made in an obsidian and jade colorway — a nod to the tools and special jewelry used and worn by the Jōmon people.
The Howser clogs feature a non-marking rubber outsole, micro-fleece lining, and a removable footbed. These comfortable clogs can be found now over at KEEN for a price of ¥7,700 JPY (approximately 72$ USD).
