Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "WAP" Country Remix Actually Works
Feel inspired and touched by lines such as “Give me everything you got…”.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “WAP” broke the Internet and the music industry, opening at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a total of 93 million U.S. streams making it a record-breaker. The hit continues to become increasingly popular and the buzz has barely died down, so now YouTuber’s such as Ethan Merlyn have decided to get creative by remixing “WAP” into being a country song.
The “WAP” remix slows down the song’s beat but still features quick-firing bars from Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, whose words now sit against the slow strums of a guitar. This backing beat is in fact taken from Lady Gaga‘s 2016 song, “Million Reasons.”
Merlyn’s remix gives “WAP” a somewhat uplifting, inspirational twist in comparison to the song’s usual not-PG-approved stance. It’s a weird mix, and yet somehow it works, with lines such as “Give me everything you got” feeling more emotional than erotic. Listen to the country remix of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” above, and find out for yourself how well the song works.
