Séfr Reflects Upon Its Lebanese Roots in "Beiti" FW20 Collection
Adding a traditional twist to minimalistic shirts, knitwear and tailoring options.
Gothenburg-based label Séfr returns to its Lebanese roots with its Fall/Winter 2020 collection, “Beiti.”
Séfr’s roots are deeply embedded in Lebanon, with its name meaning “Zero” in Lebanese Arabic and its co-founder Sinan Abi having his family originate from there. As Abi states, the collection is the realization of something deeper, digging “deeper into the rich history and culture that the Lebanese home has to offer… A place so vibrant yet serenely beautiful.”
As a result, the Swedish label’s FW20 collection combines the rich colors, textures and classic looks of its heritage with contemporary cuts and visions taken from its Swedish footprint. Channeling this most evidently are pieces such as the Power Blazer — a relaxed, split-cuff single-breasted offering in “Irregular Moss Green” — and the Ripley Shirt, a luxurious woolen piece that features a moon-like cratered surface.

Elsewhere, Séfr presents a vegan leather jacket, a formal Rampoua shirt that incorporates pleats into its rear shoulder panel (and many more signature button-up offerings), as well as knitwear in the form of the patchwork Gote Cardigan, the chunky Abi Sweater in “Rhino Grey” and the Leth Sweater, a ribber piece that comes in various iterations including one sporting this season’s “Beiti Gift” print.
Altogether, Séfr’s FW20 collection is nuanced in its understanding and appreciation of its Lebanese heritage, while maintaining the clean, contemporary vision we’ve come to expect from one of HYPEBEAST’s favorite emerging labels.
