Universal Pictures released the official trailer for F9: Fast and Furious 9the next installment of the “Fast Saga” that promises “no matter how fast you are, no one outruns their past,” in the film’s official tagline. In the trailer above, we see Dom (Vin Diesel) even more ingratiated in the family life now that he has a little son. However, when his son’s previous kidnapper Cipher (Charlize Theron) returns to take revenge, she arrives alongside a master thief car expert (John Cena) who happens to be Dom’s younger brother.

We also see the Fast crew assemble, including Tokyo Drift characters Lucas Black (Sean Boswell), Earl (Jason Tobin), and even Han (Sung Kang) who makes an appearance despite his alleged death. And of course, we are treated with an extensive amount of gravity-defying car action sequences the likes only the “Fast Saga” films can produce. Also returning is  Justin Lin, who previously directed Tokyo DriftThe Fast & the FuriousFast Five, and Fast & Furious 6. However, mainstay screenwriter Chris Morgan, who’s written every Fast movie since Tokyo Drift, will not write this film, further alluding to the changes potentially coming to the franchise.

Fast and Furious 9 arrives in theaters on May 22, 2020.
