Raf Simons' Asymmetrical Steel Toe Cap Dr. Martens 1461 Are a Minimalist Utilitarian Statement
As spotted on his Paris Fashion Week FW19 runway.

Raf Simons has released the Dr. Martens 1461 collaboration which was spotted at his Blue Velvet-influenced Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2019 runway presentation.
The classic Dr. Martens silhouette is a clean, simplistic and minimalist low-profile shoe that has been reworked by the Belgian designer in his usual low-key manner. It’s yet another pair in the duo’s roster of reworked staples, which hark back to 2009 in a collaboration that featured another standout three-eye offering.
From first glances the shoe is relatively untouched, sporting a white co-branded stamp on the lateral side panel which contrasts the shoe’s smooth black leather uppers. However, on the front of the shoe, Raf Simons has added an asymmetrical touch by exposing an engraved metal toe cap on one of the feet. The engraving reads “DR MARTENS / RF SMNS” alongside other traditional shoemaker markings, and is not just for show as it provides protection like all work and safety footwear from Dr. Martens.
The pair sits atop a cushioned AirWair sole unit made from rubber and feature tonal stitching. Black round laces and silver eyelets adorn the vamp, while tan leather is added to the interior for a premium finishing touch.
