Founded in 1960 Germany, Dr. Martens has been a staple in premium footwear dating back almost half a century. Basing their idea on a shoe sole almost literally made of air, the German one-man show collaborated with innovative English shoe makers, Griggs, to create what is now a historic world renown boot manufacturer. Taking that very same masterful approach and penchant for innovative design, Doc Martens hooks up with Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons on a special collaboration project. Four colorways are seen in the Dr. Martens vintage 3 Eye model, which was the initial silhouette released during the brands inaugural production run. The collection is expected to release in the Spring of 2009 as part of their Spring/Summer lineup which should see further models as well.
